Let me fill you in on the deadliest condition in papercrafting: Papercrafter Fatigue- It occurs when you become aware of how tedious the model is that you're making and get discouraged from making it. You then move on to try and build another model but quickly find yourself in an even deeper state of self loathing. Repeat until you have a pile of unfinished models, cry, and swer never to build again.
The cure is to step back when you get worn out with the first one and wait. DON'T start anything else, no matter how tempting, and when you get the desire to work again, complete your model, feel the love of it again, and then proceed onward.
I had a case of fatigue after completing my manequin, Tsuyo, that lasted almost a year. I started on Reshiram shortly after completing her, got tired and built nothing for almost a year.
When the fatigue lifted, I finished Reshiram, then went on to build the Arwing, and now I'm working on the 2nd of several Ace Combat aircraft that I decided to give a shot at, and I feel pretty good, despite suffering a hint of PF after the first one didn't come out that great because I was out of practice.
Wow. Such a response, I was not expecting. The first thing I want to tell you, I respect you. Second, thank you. And third, I will tell you in more detail about my situation. I totally agree with everything you said, but there are other reasons why this lovely doll unfinished. It's true, I do not have time now to deal with it. But the main reason why I DO NOT WANT dealing with it is this: When I started with paper craft, I literally fell into it. In time, I switched to the more complex models, and a wave of inspiration has passed. I think, like you said, it will come again. But not now. As for the other models, I do not do anything difficult. Thanks again for your answer, I realized that it is quite normal.
Yes, but anything else is procrastination. You're prolonging the inevitable, and sooner or later need to finish what you started. I'll admit I haven't always had such success. The reason I specialize in medium/large papercraft is because I can't work on anything I can't at least get a bamboo skewer (or preferably a finger) in to close. I was supposed to be building an Aerodactyl model right now instead of these planes, but I lost the head so that got scrapped.
Still, don't give up. If you have the ability use it.
